"If you wish to be happy for one day, get drunk
If you wish to be happy for three days, get married
If you wish to be happy for eight days, kill your pig and eat it
But if you wish to be happy forever, become a gardener."

                                                                           Chinese Proverb

I am a gardener.  I love being hot, sweaty, and dirty.  I love watching little shoots come up from barren ground and grow into beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees.  I love frogs, lizards, birds, and spiders.  I love some insects, hate some others.  I love squirrels, unless they're "planting" things in my beds.  I hate armadillos.  Not too crazy about snakes, but they have their place and function.

My grandmother taught me to garden.  She loved flowers, especially summer flowers.  She knew all the herbs and wild plants that could be used medicinally, and she grew most of them.  Because of her, I have studied herbs and herbal medicines for many years, and would much rather use herbs and natural remedies than antibiotics and painkillers.

On these pages, I will try to impart to you some of the wisdom and knowledge (knowledge is not always wisdom) I have gained over my many years of growing flowers and plants, and of using herbal and natural remedies.  I will do this by telling stories of my experiences, and in answering questions frequently asked of me.

Come journey with me through my garden!  You never know what wonders you may find there.
